Oldsmobile was founded by Ransom E. Olds on August 21, 1897. General Motors purchased Oldsmobile in 1908. When GM shut down Oldsmobile, it was the oldest American Auto Marque, building cars for 107 years. General Motors phased out Oldsmobile and closed it's doors on April 29, 2004.
