Durant bought out Louis around 1915 and then purchased a majority share of General Motors in 1916, and merged the two with Chevrolet being a separate division. General Motors is currently the second largest automaker in the World based on annual sales, however for 77 years, GM was #1. Chevrolet is well known for their Small-Block V8, which was introduced 1955.
